Question to Ask Your Builder - New Home Upgrades
Builders Wife Blog
Are you building a new construction home? Here is an important question to ask your builder regarding your new construction home upgrades - kitchen edition!
This new home upgrade may be something that slips your mind, and after everything is done it could leave you disappointed with your new construction home kitchen. In the kitchen, if you've selected a tile backsplash (such as a subway tile) most builders will only tile half-way up the backsplash behind your kitchen hood fan....and stop half way up.

The question you should ask your builder is: how far up does our kitchen tile backsplash go to?
In the photo pictured left, you will notice this subway kitchen tile backsplash is tiled all the way up to the ceiling. I believe it completes the kitchen, and gives your space an easy upgrade to the eyes.
If your builder only tiles to the bottom of the hood fan, you may want to ask them how much more it would be to tile up to the ceiling. It isn't a lot more in materials and labor, so it could be an item you want to add into your new construction home budget! I do know how easy it is to spend your new construction home budget in upgrades, but tiling your kitchen backsplash is one to consider.
If you're feeling overwhelmed with new construction home upgrades and your budget - start a list and then figure out what is most important to you and your family!
